The Active Travel group within the DLR County Council are working on the roll-out of a nationwide scheme of Mobility Hubs across the DĂșn Laoghaire-Rathdown area. 73 hubs are planned in this area and the hubs are intended to provide access to shared mobility services, including e-bikes, e-scooters, e-cargo bikes, and electric vehicles (EVs).
DLR CoCo have proposed two hubs within our estate – a combined e-bike / e-scooter hub and a combined EV and e-bike / e-scooter hub. The e-bike/e-scooter hub is proposed to be installed on the main green at the junction of Sandyford Hall Park and the Avenue, and the EV and e-bike / e-scooter hub at the junction of the View and the Rise.

It’s our understanding that the e-bike hub will encompass “Sheffield” bike stands for rental bikes only, as well as an e-scooter parking stand. The e-bikes and e-scooters will not be electrically charged from this location, but they will be managed and charged off-site by a third-party company.
The EV hub will also encompass “Sheffield” e-bike and e-scooter stands and will two parking spaces and a charging bollard for rental EV’s.
The Council have stated that both of these locations are on Council owned land and hence planning permission is not required through the normal planning process.
The plans and particulars of the proposed development will be available for inspection online on the new CitizenSpace portal, and additionally from Friday, 22 May 2026 up to and including Friday, 3 July 2026 at their offices at Marine Road, Dun Laoghaire and Dundrum Office Park.
We encourage all residents of Sandyford Hall to share their feedback by making a submission to the Council via the CitizenSpace portal linked above. The feedback link is at the bottom of the page and closes on the 3rd of July.
