As many of you may have observed the Big Belly bin at the entrance to Sandyford Hall was set alight overnight on the 31st of July. A similar bin in Sandyford Village was also burned out indicating that this was likely an intentional act.
Sandyford Hall Residents Committee are shocked and very disappointed by these actions as the team worked with DLRCoCo to get this expensive resource installed at the strategic point where much of the foot-traffic passes through Sandyford Hall. The bin was known to be well used and contributed to keeping our estate roads clear of rubbish as well as enabling dog-walkers to uphold the cleanliness of the area.
Due to the high cost of these units these bins aren’t automatically replaced once damaged, so Sandyford Hall RA are actively working with our local DLRCoCo Councillors to expedite a replacement. We’d encourage any of the users of this resource to contact the Councillors to emphasise the importance of these simple but-yet important local services.
In the meantime we have asked DLRCoCo that the old bin be removed and cleaned-up and we’ll update you further as our requests progress.
